Essential Academic Vocabulary

Escribir para una universidad requiere un cambio de "chip". Debes pasar del inglés del día a día a un inglés estructurado, formal y preciso.

Linking Words (Conectores)

Los conectores son el pegamento de tus ideas. Usar "And" y "But" es aceptable, pero en el mundo académico usamos:

  • Addition: Moreover, Furthermore, In addition.
  • Contrast: Conversely, Nevertheless, On the contrary.
  • Result: Consequently, Therefore, Thus.

Formal vs. Informal

Evita phrasal verbs y contracciones.

  • Informal: "The researchers looked into the problem."
  • Academic: "The researchers investigated the problem."
  • Informal: "The results were pretty good."
  • Academic: "The results were significant."

Precision is Key

En la academia, las palabras tienen pesos específicos. No digas "thing" o "stuff". Sé específico: "The phenomenon", "The methodology", "The empirical data".

Recuerda: Academic writing is not about using big words; it's about using the RIGHT words.
